As the internet continued to buzz with jokes and questions about her bathroom, Moore finally addressed the controversy during a July 2020 interview with Seth Meyers.
With humor, she explained that the design choice that caught everyone’s attention wasn’t actually hers.
“[…] This is the house, again, that my children grew up in and that originally was a Bruce Willis choice,” she revealed.
The actress explained that living in the mountains meant dealing with cold floors, so she never minded the warmth underfoot. “So, it’s never bothered me,” she admitted. “It’s actually quite good.”
But it wasn’t just the carpet that had people talking.
Many questioned why there was a floral couch positioned near the vanity. As it turned out, the couch wasn’t a permanent fixture — it was simply a practical solution.
Moore revealed that she had transformed the bathroom into a makeshift recording studio for her podcast “Dirty Diana.”
“[…] We had to find the place for the best sound. So, I did a test in my closet.
I did in various places. What came back is that the bathroom had the best sound [sic],” she explained.
Since she needed a comfortable space to sit for long hours of recording, she brought in a small couch — a sentimental piece she had originally made for her children when they were young.
She even admitted that the most surprising part of the viral reaction wasn’t the critique itself, but what people didn’t notice. “I was most disappointed that nobody commented that the couch…is a miniature couch,” she laughed.
Despite the internet’s fixation on her bathroom décor, Demi Moore took the attention in her stride, laughing off the controversy.
