Without knowing the whole story, Amanda and the other women in her book club quickly judged a pregnant 50-year-old woman. They didn’t realize they were wrong until they found out the truth about her pregnancy.
In her 60s, Amanda was happily single. She never got married and never had children.
She runs the weekly neighborhood book club at her house, where women who lived in the area would meet every Saturday, to keep herself busy.
Through the years, Amanda only ever got along with the people in her book club.
Because she cherished order, she would become enraged whenever a neighbor’s child would damage a flower pot or contaminate her side of the street. The children were afraid of Amanda as a result.
They avoided her front yard and never gave her any of the juices and baked goods they sold every summer, which were well-liked by other neighbors. Amanda went to the grocery store one day.
She had not spoken to her neighbor Jane, who was 50 years old, there.
Jane was browsing junk food in one of the aisles.
As we get older, we shouldn’t be eating that junk, Amanda told her. Jane smiled politely and informed her that her family always had chips available for guests.
After giving her a head shake, Amanda told her which ones to buy. At the very least, choose organic ones,” she advised, pointing to the ones she thought were superior.
The entire neighborhood was aware of Amanda’s insistence that she was the expert.
As a result, Jane thanked her for her suggestions rather than arguing with her to focus on her own matters.
Jane and Amanda ran into each other again by accident at the cash register. Amanda made the decision to invite Jane to their book club there.
On weekends, you must become disinterested. She handed out a flyer and said, “You should join our book club.
” Jane agreed with a grin.
Sure.
She said, “I’ll see you on Saturday,” as she left the store with her grocery bags.
The fact that she had added another member to their club made Amanda happy. Jane showed up during that weekend.
The book club’s routine would always be the same: They would talk for an hour about a book, eat sandwiches and drink tea for another hour, and then they would talk all night. Jane continued to show up for another two weeks before beginning to disappear.
Amanda couldn’t believe Jane wouldn’t take advantage of the chance to join their book club.
Even more shocking to her was the fact that Jane did not return calls.
Jane had not been seen or heard from in a month. Amanda asked the other women if they had seen Jane, annoyed that her need for order had been disturbed.
Is she somewhere else in the world? Because they had not heard from Jane since they last saw her, the women responded that they had no idea where she was.
The idea didn’t bother Amanda, so she carried on with her life until one day she decided to go outside and get some fresh air.
She observed Jane as she strolled down the street, her round belly being caressed by her hand.
Amanda couldn’t wait to share what she had seen with the other members of the book club the following day. Jane is, I swear, pregnant!
She exclaimed immediately. A second woman made a comment, stating that she had also seen Amanda that week and thought her belly was big.
Amanda gave a head shake.
“At her age, she ought to be looking after her grandchildren rather than giving birth!
It disgusts me! ” Jane was being judged by Amanda behind her back.
Another elderly woman asked, “Tell me about it. ” What will the infant call her?
Grandma?
Imagine attending parent-teacher conferences while all the other mothers are in their thirties with gray hair.
The members of the book club all laughed at that comment. “Who would want her to have a child?
” Amanda made a mocking grin. Amanda saw Jane at the grocery store a few days later.
She was rubbing her round belly with her hand as she stood near a food shelf.
With a burning desire to learn the father’s name, Amanda rushed to Jane.
She decided to make fun of Jane, who was looking at a shelf of peanuts, before she got to her question. Peanuts, you know, should not be eaten by pregnant women.
It may aggravate allergies! As she got closer, Amanda grumbled.
Jane calmly turned to face her.
My doctor informed me that I am completely healthy and that I do not have a peanut allergy.
She responded, “I do have the go signal to eat peanuts. ” “It has no bearing!
You are endangering a child. You’re so self-centered,” Amanda said out of annoyance.
Jane started to feel unwell just as she was about to respond.
She ran to the nearby restroom after covering her mouth with her hand.
Ugh. Disgusting.
Women your age shouldn’t have children because of this! She was followed by Amanda.
Jane’s daughter and her husband suddenly showed up.
What’s going on?
What are you shouting at my mother? She inquired, I was instructing your mother.
Buying junk food while pregnant is extremely selfish. Amanda stated, “She is putting the baby in danger.
” Furthermore, how does she manage to even lie around?

Jane’s daughter expressed shock. She responded, “First of all, ma’am, with all due respect, my mother’s pregnancy is not your business.
” However, since you are all interfering with her affairs, the truth is that I have been trying to conceive for the past two years, but each pregnancy has resulted in a miscarriage. I tried IVF and surgery, but neither helped.
Our chances, according to the doctor, were zero to none.
Jane’s daughter elaborated, “Adoption was not something I wanted to do.
