You guys were… looking for rings during those coffee meetings?”
Jessica nodded, beaming. “Yep. I had no clue what style you’d like, so Elone was helping me choose.
And he’s surprisingly adept at feigning interest in jewelry.”
Elone acted offended, giving me an exaggerated pout.
“Come on, man, I picked out the perfect ring! I even coached her on what to say.
You thought I was… what, trying to steal her away?”
“Honestly?” I laughed, rubbing the back of my neck. “Maybe for a moment there.”
Elone playfully slapped my back, feigning hurt.
“Dude, you really thought I’d betray you?
I’m offended.”
Jessica chuckled, resting her head on my shoulder. “I wanted it to be a surprise. You’ve been everything I could ever wish for, and I wanted to give you something special.”
As I looked at both of them, it felt as though a weight was lifted off my shoulders.
All my worries and doubts seemed trivial now.
I reached out, pulling both of them into a warm embrace. “Well, I don’t know how I got so lucky.
Engaged to the love of my life, with my best friend right here beside me.”
Elone rolled his eyes, pretending to wipe away a tear. “This is too much, man.”
Jessica laughed, her eyes sparkling.
“So… what do you think, fiancé?”
I gazed at her with a wide grin.
“I say… let’s embark on forever.”
